About the Kids Graphic Novel Festival

We have always loved kids graphic novels here, and celebrating them with their own special day has been among the best things we've ever undertaken as a bookstore. Borne out both by their sales in the store and with the enthusiasm that kids greet them, we know that these are the books that kids want. Our first Festival in 2023 attracted more than 2,000 attendees, and 2024's and 2025's Festival drew more than 3,000, cementing this day of joy for children and families as a permanent spot on our calendar.

People have come from all over New England and beyond. In our second year, we incorporated a third stage for events. We host more than a dozen panels, talks, and/or drawing demos across these three stages, and when they are not on stage (or taking a break), presenters are on hand in the author tent to sign books and chat with attendees.

Our fourth annual Festival will take place on Saturday, May 2nd, 2026, and we hope to see you there. In each of the first three years, the joy was something you could see on people's faces and feel in the air all throughout the day, and we hope to share that special feeling with our community every year.

Artist Reception: New Show Jill Goldman-Callahan & Sue Stein

Join us for refreshments and meet painter Jill Goldman-Callaham and potter by Sue Stein. See and shop their work at E. Drumm Designs from April 10th through June 30th. 

About Jill Goldman-Callaham

Jill Goldman-Callahan is a contemporary abstract painter interested in mystery and process. Jill's Night series was created with cold wax and oil paint, embedded with charcoal dust, then pressed, scratched and scraped into Terraskin (a sustainable stone paper made from limestone and marble) evoking the mystery of night. Each piece is mounted on birch panel and framed in black wooden floating frames.

Find Jill experimenting in her studio at the Arts Umbrella in Concord, MA.

About Sue Stein

Sue Stein's work is primarily a response to years of thinking about form and function. Having developed a love for photography and printmaking but needing to get her hands more involved in the process, she found pottery to be a perfect medium to explore. Each piece is hand thrown, trimmed and glazed as one-of-a-kind.

The tradition of the Annual Holiday Village Stroll began more than 15 years ago by the West Acton Village Merchants Association (WAVMA), which has now grown to 44 small, local, independent businesses, to celebrate the Holiday Season in West Acton Village.
